HDTV Sony BRAVIA KDL55HX850 Deals & Reviews

Nick (New York): That's about all there is to change. Best LED TV I've ever seen and that includes the XBRs. (I realize that this TV is a 2012 model and the XBR is a 2011 model). I am sure the 2012 XBR will be spectacular, but as of now this is the best LED TV on the market with black levels approaching the very best of the plasmas with much, much better light transmission through the glass rather than diffused through a typical LCD panel.
H. Batra "aks316" (New York): After much researching, comparing, and waiting, we finally got our LED TV. After the very first initial setup of the TV, the custom picture settings were not accessible (greyed out) so I had to reset the TV to its factory condition and run the setup again. This time all options were accessible. So far, we are very pleased with the TV. Of course, only time will tell how reliable it is; but it is great at the moment. The delivery was fast and as scheduled (Amazon had an option to schedule a delivery on a certain day and at a certain time). I was concerned about possible reflections (it is glass after all) but that is not an issue at all. So far we have not noticed any motion blur like on older LED TVs. Overall - very pleased.
A. Zarusski (Dallas, USA): We bought it on 11/12/12, it was delivered on 11/20/12..The company unpacked it and removed all the packing and hooked it up. That part was wonderful. We had to sign a form stated everything was ok. Then 2 weeks later a green spot appeared on the screen and then yesterday a red dot appeared. We contacted sony and are waiting to find out what will happen from here. Our tv is less than a month old. I am disappointed with sony.
Bob Loblaw (nashville): got the hx850 after first purchasing a samsung es6100. I was used to a 5 year old sony xbr lcd tv, so i had thought that whatever new set i bought would exceed the picture of my old set. Not so-the samsung was a big step down in both picture and build quality. I eventually returned the samsung and got this hx850 sony. For those that care primarily about the best picture, and also dont want to go with a plasma, this is as good as it gets. I checked cnet and they agree, that this set is the best led set on the market. I cant comment on the 3d or the internet features since i dont use those, but the build quality is excellent, it has plenty of recessed hdmi inputs, and the picture is stunning.

HDTV Sony KDL-40R450A Deals & Reviews

Ramesh(CA): I got this TV on Feb 23 from Costco, now after using for about one month I say this is my Best TV. I had Samsung 40E5050 which too I liked very much. But there was probably some technical issue....that would sometimes produce spark like sound,so I returned that TV. The Costco in my place didn't have that Samsung TV anymore. Since Samsung was very good for me as per picture and sound and price....I couldn't decide which to buy now. Then I saw this Sony Bravia 40R450A (2013model) for unbelievable price. I had always thought of buying Sony but didn't buy because of price. But this 40" led Sony is priced unreasonably low, price is comparable to other brands whereas the quality....its very high !!
B. Lee (New Jersey): What if you could get a high quality Sony smart television with access to Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, Pandora, and more... And what if it output sound to your receiver without needing any additional cables than the hdmi in you have plugged in already? What if all this could be had for a shade over $500? Such is the case when this TV is combined with the Roku 3400R Streaming Stick. Plug the stick into HDMI 2/MHL, and after a quick setup it's all controllable with the TV's remote.
Daniel Brown (Albuquerque, NM USA): I have always purchased Sony tvs and have always been satisfied. For some reason, I saw a Samsung 40" at Sears and decided to order one like it from Amazon. After doing some research and discovering that Samsung was putting cheap Sharp panels (or worse, Chimea panels) on their tvs I found that I could determine whether the tv I received was truly a Samsung tv with a Samsung panel like the one I saw at Sears, or one with the cheaper panel. Sure enough, the Samsung tv I received from Amazon had a cheap Sharp panel, so I returned it to Amazon. I explained to the Amazon rep what the problem was and I wanted a Samsung tv with a Samsung panel, he said he understood and would ship me another tv right away.
R. Edwards (Los Angeles, CA USA): I will begin by saying that I am very picky about the accuracy of my TV, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my Sony TV was very well calibrated, right out of the box. This is one of the most accurately calibrated displays I have seen at its default settings. The only adjusting I did was to change the mode to standard mode and set the white balance to neutral. Everuything else was spot-on. The skin tones are right on the money. The contrast is perfect. Also, Sony did a great job with their dynamic contrast enhancer. It works much better than Samsungs (which isn't very dynamic).

HDTV Sony Bravia L-Series KDL-26L5000 Deals & Reviews

David Farr (Niles, MI USA): Bought to replace a smaller-screen TV in our bedroom. The larger size is much appreciated, but the quality of the picture is beyond any I've seen. We have had other LCD HDTV sets, but this one far exceeds the picture quality of our other sets. Easy to set up. I got a wall mount for this size set and the entire installation took just a few minutes. Highly recommended and worth the extra money.
D. Nelson (La Mesa, CA): My first hd flat panel. spent a considerable amount of time researching and reading reviews trying to decide what would be my first hd tv. but in the end i came across this one, and with confidence in sony, it was a blind buy. been with it for a month now and i couldn't be more pleased with this tv. @ 720p the picture is stunning. blu-rays on this thing are gorgeous, as are my ps3 games. sound is surprisingly louder and clearer than i expected. as a bedroom set you couldn't ask for better. next, the living room set will definitely be a bravia.
I. Villafuerte (Chicago, IL): At the price you may not at first think of this little SONY as a bargain, but wait until you've owned if for a month or so. If you have wasted time trying other, less expensive sets, as many of us have, then you will know what I mean by bargain! Marvelous picture. Easy to set up and program.Easily moved around. I don't understand the negative comments about sound. What do you want?....a stereo system or a television set??! This is a GREAT little television.
Charles R. Leatherman (Baltimore,MD): I was looking for a smaller screen HDTV for the basement when I found the KDL 26L5000. Amazon, as usual, was great. I ordered on Sunday night, was shipped on Monday and received it on Tuesday. And, that was with free super saver shipping! It was simple to set up and the picture is great. The colors are perfect with superb blacks. It is connected through a DirecTv HR22-100 HD DVR. This is a great TV for smaller viewing areas like a den, bedroom, etc. I'm giving 4 stars mainly for the speakers. I would prefer a little more volume and better bass, but perhaps I'm expecting too much from small speakers. Still, I really like this set and highly recommend it.

HDTV Sony BRAVIA KDL32EX340 Deals & Reviews

NYC Ron (NYC): When my dearly beloved Bravia KDL-32S3000 succumbed to a power surge I sadly went looking for a replacement. The highly rated Samsung UN32EH5000 that I bought soon went back to the store. I might have gotten used to what I consider to be an overly narrow frame around the screen, but I was unable to tone down the garish colors and the tinny sound would have necessitated buying additional speakers. It also didn't correctly automatically size the input from my computer. To toggle back and forth between the computer and TV would have required constant readjustment of the screen setting.
Bill White (Arleta, CA. USA): I purchased this tv on AMAZON a week ago and am very satisfied with it. The picture, though only 720p, is incredibly sharp. But what sold me on the SONY TV is the incredible range of colors that it can display. I compared it to a comparable Samsung 32" LED TV and found the SONY offered a brighter picture with a wider range of color rendition. Remember the old SONY Trinitron TV sets? I still have one that works from 1981 and even back then the SONY set displayed a wider range of colors. The SONY had a beautiful picture right out of the box and for me it required no further tuning of the settings. However there are many options for the customization of picture and sound settings.
BB Machine "Gadget Geek" (USA): I bought two of these TV's, one to hook up to a PC for a second monitor and another to watch my satellite from. Correct me if I'm wrong, but everyone has this set listed as 720p and both of mine are 1080i. Maybe Sony changed this spec but I checked in the manual and it says the same. The price on Amazon went up $100 right after I bought mine. Maybe they discovered this fact also????Both of my TV's are great and have a great picture. No white lines on mine like others have commented about.
JOSE THOMAS (DUMONT, NJ United States): I ordered this TV for one of our bedrooms, we received the first TV about two weeks ago, unpack the TV, hook it onto the wall, turned it on, the right side of the TV has a bright white line running vertically, tried various sources, blue-ray, cable, did not notice a difference, the left side is perfectly fine, I called Sony technical support, they have not heard of this issue, since the TV is brand new, they sent me a brand new replacement TV, which arrives in about a week, hook up the 2nd brand new TV, same issue, this time the white line is brighter and a small line is running diagonally on the bottom right. will call Sony tomorrow to have 2 TV sent back and hopefully the 3 works perfectly.

HDTVSony BRAVIA KDL55HX750 Deals & Reviews

Ron F(USA): You are not going to get a MIT review from me. I waited for a few months for the release and then purchased the 55 inch when it became available. All I did was plug in the TV without making one adjustment. Every friend that watches this TV with me rates it a 5. The 3D is perfect for the living room - don't expect IMAX 3D. The TV is now $200 cheaper to buy and I really don't care because I am more than pleased with the quality. HD viewing on this TV is fantastic. The picture on some of my weekly episodes is so clear that it appears you are sitting next to the actors. It is a very strange experience to describe because the picture is so amazing. For the price, pony up - you won't be sorry.
JDo(Canada): Well, we bought this t.v. in early April and by the end of May, it stopped working. It was wonderful when it worked, but died within 2 months. Quick calls to Sony revealed this is a common problem they're having with this t.v. and they said we need to replace the circuit board. We waited a couple days before a person from their local service facility called. That person informed us they didn't have the board in-stock and it would be 4-7 days. Well, we're still waiting. They have not been in-touch, we don't know what the hold up is. We have to chase them constantly to find out what's going on.
SylverCloud (IL): Was going for a HX929 but the price increase pushed it out of budget and I settled for HX750. This is a decent TV and I found cnet review mostly right. Colours are too good. Watching NGC and Discovery HD is really a treat. Blacks are really black like an other reviewer noted and its incredibly good. Downside is lost shadow detail. Shadow detail is not less, it simply is gone. Dark areas of picture appear totally black with nothing in detail or texture whatsoever. Motion judder is noticeable in standard and smooth modes (which are the ones recommended for regular use). I had compared this one side-by-side with HX 9 series and the latter humbled this at contrast and depth. HX 929 is still probably the best bet. But I felt the difference in picture doesn't justify the huge premium for 9 series.
R. Campbell (Grand Rapids, MI): We immediately contacted support via email after finding no "fixes" on the Sony website. We received a reply with instructions to try "resetting" the TV, which we did but it didn't work. We were then told that it would need repair and that we had to Call Sony Support on a NON-800# (on OUR dime) & ONLY between the hours of 9:00 - 5:00 pm (ET) M-F. We called on that Monday following (on Christmas Eve) at 7:30 am PT and got a person who would not believe that we had already gone through the reset steps with the other support person via email. We had to do it all over again with this person. He was difficult to understand and was a bit arrogant. So far this buying experience sucks. We're now concerned that the 55" is going to do the same...if it does, it better occur during the warranty period.

HDTV Sharp LC-70LE757 Deals & Reviews

Barry J. White (Memphis, TN): The most important fact you need to know about this TV is that it is a matte screen. None of the manufacturers seem to publish this important detail for some reason. You have to see for yourself or read reviews to figure it out. If you have any windows in the room with your TV, this will likely be the most important feature of your TV. Unfortunately, Sharp is one of the only manufacturers still using matte screens on their large tvs. I believe that is because there is a slight penalty to pay with contrast, but if you have windows around, the glare wouldn't allow you to see any contrast difference between matte and glossy screen.
P. Derrow (Midwest United States): The problem with the golf broadcast was the presence of motion artifacts, particularly noticeable when the ball was moving rapidly across the screen. Motion artifacts are still more noticeable with LED technology compared to plasma, but a set like this one with its higher (240Hz) processing rate should be very close to plasma. With the factory settings, the motion artifact of the moving golf ball displayed as a trail nearly 4" long ending with a second ball image!.
Ed (Surprise, AZ United States): I do not have cable or satellite, get all my channels off-air with an antenna and I stream Netflix and Amazon, plenty of choices for us as there are around sixty channels available here in the Phoenix area (agreed, many you probably would never watch) but, there are still great choices available including all of the networks. None of those signals are compressed like some providers do so they can squeeze in more channels, the result is a slightly better picture.
R. Poskevich (Tualatin, OR USA): I unpacked the TV and hung it on the wall mount and plugged it in. The set came on and went into a menu that allows selection of time zone, country, etc.. After that I connected my DVD player and put Avatar in to check out the picture. WOW! Even though I'm running a standard DVD through my Sony BDP-S5100 player the picture was unbelievably SHARP. I saw details in Avatar that were not there on my previous TV. The 35W sound system was a little flat at first so I went to the menu and found the sound adjustment section. The surround sound was not enabled so I turned it on and selected Hall Surround.

HDTV Sharp LC-70LE650 Deals & Reviews

John Saylers (Cincinnati, OH): Wifi was easy to set up. I skipped it in the initial setup and went back in and did Manual Setup, and I was able to easily find and connect to my wireless network, just like connecting any other device. We don't have Netflix, so I haven't tested that, but I watched about 15 minutes of YouTube videos on there and it didn't freeze or buffer a single time. Pandora also works nicely for party music. I do wish it had Amazon Instant Video as an app, but I'm able to get this through my Blue Ray player anyway.
W. Hunt "SegWayne" (Huntsville, AL United States): My one potential issue is the automatic dimming (Energy star settings?) of the screen to accommodate light or dark rooms. In the older analog days, when a light turned on or off in a room, the TV set would adjust gradually (within a few seconds). My Sharp (and I'm hoping it's only a setting) seems to be so sensitive that in a dark room, the image goes bright or dark instantly with changes to the scene on the screen itself. Even a white screen being shown causes the TV to go a little wonky trying to self-adjust the brightness.
Bobby (BELLE CHASSE, LA, US): I went to purchase the lc-70le640 but when the salesman went in the back he can back and said he had one 640 in stock and one 650 in stock. The 650 model was 70 dollars cheaper. When we compared the features it identical to the 640 except it had the duo-core processor and better smart features plus the bezel around the TV was has as think. It was a no brain er for me to get the newer model for 70 dollars less. The tv has one of the nicest pictures I ever saw. The smart feature works flawless.
ESVK "SVK" (Atlanta, GA): I am an avid Amazon shopper, but I was a little hesitant to buy such a large electronic piece via freight shipping. But, I decided to give Amazon a try and everything went very smoothly. I am a prime member and could have had the TV in two days, but I elected to set up a time later in the week when I knew someone would be home. The freight company showed up with the TV at the very start of the 3 hour window and brought the unit all the way into the house. They also called me about 20 mins beforehand to let me know they were on the way.
